Aotearoa アオテアロア

ニュージーランドのマオリ語でアオテアロアは白い雲のたなびく島とニュージーランドのことを指します。

2007年にWOWに初参加しニュージーランドを旅行した時にこの国をイメージしました。そして2008年度のWOWに向けてそのイメージを竹ひごと和紙で創造しました。　

ニュージーランドで開かれるワールドオブウェアラブルオブアートのショーは世界中からの参加者とテレビ中継される国を挙げての大きなイベントです。このアワードショーで建築インスピレーション部門に出品し、部門賞賞賛賞を受賞しました。　その後もこの作品自体はニュージーランド、ネルソンのWOW美術館に所有されておりますが、2009年と2010年にはアメリカのオンラインエキシビションで2度の作品賞に輝いています。

Aotearoa in Maori (New Zealand native tounge) means a white clouds hang over the long islands.

Mitsuko attended this WOW event in 2007 and she travelled around NZ.  This work was inspired from the beautiful island.  Using bamboo strings and hand made Japanese paper, she tried to put an image of Aotearoa around human body.

This "World of Wearable Art Award Show" in New Zealand became the annual national event and also many artists arould the world are eager to attend as the finalists.  Her art work was awarded as the Commended Prize of the Architecture Section.  Her art work was donated to the WOW Museum in Nelson, NZ.　In 2009 and 2010,  this art work was selected at the online exhibitions and received the prizes of the New Art at "Curete This! 2010", and the Best in Sculpture  at "Celebrate HerStory 2009", Manhattan Art International.
